Works approved by the committee
Keypad locks:
for gates 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9
Status: we have paid the council a contribution from our association funds and we are still waiting for them to commission the work.
Improvements to paths & fences:
We booked about 2 weeks of work from BTCV to take place in February: to improve, stabilise and surface the diagonal path up from gate 2 behind the farm, to gate 5 at the top of Stony Lane; to cut a new path along a contour to link this path to the top of field 4; to repair 40m of chain link fence along the newly planted hedge from gate 9 along Gaunts Lane. BTCV now expect to be on site in early April, & extend their apologies for the delay in starting.
Volunteer works:
We hope to: fix the broken tap in field 3 near plot 85; replace the barrel under the tap below gate 8; resecure the chainlink fence between field 6 and the garages. Improve the interiors of the committee room and the store room. Plant a flower bed along the edge of the yard near the comittee room. Paint the new door & woodwork (see below). (We could do with some more volunteers to help with these & other jobs – use the contact link)
Quote Requested: A local builder has been asked to quote for: fitting a new door & frame to the old committee room and repairing the roof & some of the woodwork.
Skips
The extra skip in the yard is now nearly full. A resounding well done to all the volunteers who helped shift so much junk.
If we need more skips it will be after the start of the new financial year in April 2012. Part of the deal to get extra funding for the locks was that we would economise somewhat on skips. This seemed like good value to us.
As always please hold the rubbish on your own plot until the skip arrives then pack it neatly in. If you can carry small amounts back to your domestic bin, or drive some of it to the council tip that would be very helpful. Avoid adding soil or green waste, which can be composted, and woody stems, which can be dried then burned between November & March.
Note that the council pays for the skips really with a view to helping us clear the site of accumulated historical rubbish left by generations of previous tenants. As current plotholders we are expected to take responsibility for removing anything non biodegradeable we bring onto our plots.
